EAGLES NEST

Check out the last page of this newsletter for the  free breakfast picture. If you know where this place is, you could just be the winner of a free breakfast at the

March meeting.

Wow, what is up with this weather and the gas prices? Clear and sunny one moment, then cloudy and/

or windy the next. Just when we believe that the weather is going to be pleasant for a ride, it changes. Oh yeah, this is Nevada and anyone who’s lived here long knows that if you don’t like the weather, wait ten minutes. I would like to thank those who attended the March meeting for the turnout. I hope to see more seasoned and fresh faces alone with better weather. During our March meeting, we had several winners of the raffle. Mike Keating and Alan Draper won the $45.00 50/25/25 with Jim Brown winning both a breakfast and a chromed 1500 kickstand (donated by George Woodside), Kathy O’Keefe pulled off a victory on the patches (donated by Dave Wyatt and Susan Van Plew) while Bob Moore won the oil filter (donated by an unknown person) for a 1500, which he gave to John Higley (a 1500 owner).

Well, with the weather improving it was time to get our bikes ready and attend the April 1st motorcycle clinic at Big Valley Honda sponsored by SNRR. According to Dana Van Pool the event was a 1st and a bristling success. It was time to get the maintenance manuals and cleaning rags off the garage shelf and perform the TCLOCK procedure to insure that our steeds are ready for this years riding season.

Dwight Rodgers, John Higley, Marianne Farrington and I attended the CA1R Rally in the Valley get together in Beatty, Nevada. Arrived on Thursday the 22nd and stayed until Sunday the 25th. Chapter E members were able to take a couple of side trips to Scotty’s Castle and Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park. Most of our District Officers were in attendance along with about 344 of their closest riding buddies from California. The vendors were great and a good time was had by all. The 25/15/10 drawing was pretty impressive. In all more than 300 door prizes were given away to those in attendance. What a beautiful place in the desert. I’d highly recommend the trip.

This month we started a new item that we hope will prove to be beneficial to our

members. We call it the 1st Monday Dinner Ride. This month we were able to assemble 14 of our members to try the ride and dinner idea. I believe that everyone who participated had a very good time and look forward to the next month’s event So mark it on your calendar, May 7th for the next scheduled event.
