winter. Wow, we have had a couple of nice weekends lately. Many of us have had limited riding, but that is about to change. Yea! May starts off a busy period that should last until the weather starts its return to winter. We have the Show and Shine May 3rd, Dunsmuir on May 16-18th which should be filled with some really nice riding and good company. We will have an Ice Cream Social – the first of a monthly event through the summer. (Date is pending; we will keep you posted.) Then June 20th – 22nd there is the District Rally – signup sheets are available on our Website. In August we will have the 2nd annual barbecue overnighter in Placerville at Milo and Denise’s. These are just a few of the events in addition to our regular events. You know: the first Monday Night Dinner Ride, Second Saturday Chapter Meeting with a 4 hour ride, and the 3rd Saturday ride for 6 – 8 hours, and of course the Safety Social every 4th Tuesday.

With all these great events, how can you say your schedule won’t allow you to participate? The more riders we have, the more fun the event is. I hope our efforts continue to create growth in the Chapter. We have so many great members and friends, and many new ones to meet. Each week I have been giving our personal business cards with our motorcycle on the front and inviting riders I see to come join us. The response is great, especially since they are also tired of riding alone. Will you go and invite the next rider you see to join the Sierra Eagles?

Looking ahead this month we hope to have a successful outdoor Safety Social at the Stead Airport. The success of the event depends on the turn-out, so we really hope you’ll be there, mostly for your own benefit. We learn from each other through our input and examples on the bikes. We are still hoping that one of you will step up and become our next Chapter Educator. In the meantime, we will make the best of the situation by coming up with safety reminders, articles, and training. I remind you again that Safety is not just about you; it’s about those who love you even when they are not with you. Look your bikes over carefully; don’t assume that it’s okay and doesn’t need to be looked at. Preventive maintenance plays a MAJOR role in the safety of the riders and their bikes! Please join us this month and let’s have a record turn-out for the Safety Social. Hope to see lots of you at the many events we have talked about and planned for our fun and learning.

See you soon,

Your Chapter Directors,

Randy & Julie Thelander
