We saw mostly sunshine this month.  Keep up the good work.  We did send a good-bye card to Dana Van Pool, but are retracting it since his status of leaving us has changed a bit.  We still wish him well.

If you know of anyone that needs some sunshine, encouragement or even an atta boy (or girl) be sure to let me know.  I can be reached at (775) 972-3121 or barneybiker10@yahoo.com

May 2008 Show & Shine at Big Valley Honda

Sierra Eagles and Friends,

This Saturday May 3rd was our first Show and Shine, held at Big Valley Honda (BVH). Our goal was to educate the public on our bikes, their beauty, comfort, and safety. We were also able to have a big showing to welcome potential new members to the Sierra Eagles. They may not know it yet, but I bet they weren’t able to resist your charm (or even more, our bikes’ charm!). As we represent our Chapter, its Members, and GWRRA, we think people will see what we truly represent on the roads and highway. It was a chance for us to strut our stuff, and show off our bikes and trailers. Thanks to the LARGE group of members who participated! It was a spectacular display of beautiful bikes, friendly faces, and people willing to talk with those who came to see this event! BVH provided some eats and drinks as well as the cooler we brought with a few special snacks in it. The event started at 9am (some members showing up early to help set up things (bikes, shade, chairs, “store” items, etc.), and ran until about 3pm.

All bikes were welcomed, and we as a chapter encouraged this. It’s important for new potential members to see we enjoy riding just about any motorcycle, and unlike many other motorcycle groups, we are NOT led by a bike’s name or type. We just wanted to have fun showing off our pride and joy, and hopefully encourage new people to join our chapter. Oh yeah: It was heard that some people felt the temptation of NEW Gold Wings and other motorcycles sitting inside BVH!!! Did you hear them calling out to you? “We’re here for you! Bring your checkbook!”

Please email me at your convenience and tell me your opinions of this event—what you liked, didn’t like, and your ideas/suggestions for future Shown & Shines. Your input is always welcomed and encouraged!

Thanks again for all your support!

saddlebag. It’s not often that someone mistakes one person’s bike for his own—Ooops!

Then, Dewey Swensen was honored with a Binky for dropping his motorcycle WITH Sue on as co-rider! I believe this occurred as they were coming to a stop, so basically most damage was done to Dewey’s pride. For that, we have the Binkies to sooth our prides! And of course have a good laugh.

Our thanks go out to those who made the nominations, and to those who graciously accepted the Binky Awards. Wear them proudly!!!
