remember the heat! We (chapter directors) have not been able to be as involved as we would like to be because of Julie’s health issues; but rest assured we have kept tabs on the activities and turnouts of our group. We are so pleased that Tim O’Keefe volunteered to be our Chapter Educator, as his skills and experience in rider education are well known by all of us. I don’t know of anyone at this time that would be better suited for this position. We hope all of you will take the opportunity to tell Tim thanks and appreciate his service/dedication. Best way to really do that is to show your support by attending safety events. It not only shows your respect and support, but also helps your own riding skills!

Speaking of education, we continue to hear stories of motorcycle accidents. I just heard about one of our own group who went down in a corner on the ride to Downeyville. We can never take for granted our ability to improve our skills and awareness. If we ride at a safe speed, are alert to all conditions 360 degrees around us, and remember the riding skills that we have been taught, we will be less susceptible to be involved in an accident; however the accidents we are hearing about are just waiting for us! Most of us may be properly trained and prepared, but not all of us. Let’s all take the opportunity that Tim is offering, and work on improving not only our physical skills, but also mental too. Many of us have seen first-hand both his skills as a rider and instructor.

This last month’s turnout for the safety social was phenomenal, but can we get more next month? We enjoy each of you and the part you play as members, officers, and visitors. We all get better with practice and our group rides are a great place to do that. Please make an effort to come out and ride, especially with the weather cooling down now (making it more bearable), and we will be doing some rides in places we haven’t ridden before. So watch your emails and let’s get out and ride safely. Your loved ones are depending on you to come back safely. Heck, so are you!!! :-)

Ride safe, Ride often,

Your Chapter Directors,

Randy & Julie Thelander
